Raymond Hart Obituary

Retired Pentecostal Pastor, Rev. Raymond Hart, died at the age of 92 on Thursday afternoon August 6, 2020 at the TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. He was pronounced deceased at 1:53 p.m. after becoming gravely ill at his Chesney Glen home. Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted Tuesday morning August 11th at 11 a.m. with Bishop Ronnie Banks officiating. Eulogies were delivered by Mr. Hart’s son Dennis Hart and step-son Wayne Sanders. Mr. Hart’s nephew, Jim Hart, gave a biography of the Hart Brothers legacy. Burial followed in the Prosperity Cemetery in the Prosperity Community of Wilson County with a grandson, David Hart, praying the closing prayer. The youngest of eight children born to the late James Milby Hart who died May 3, 1964 at the age of 82 and Annie Simmons Hart who died January 27, 1961 at the age of 72, he was born Raymond Marlin Hart in Amistad in Union County, New Mexico on March 21, 1928. Mr. Hart’s son, Gary James Hart, died November 24, 2009 at the age of 52. Pastor Hart was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Mai Hart Fields who died at the age of 40 on April 16, 1945 and Alma Ray Hart Nemens on December 3, 1993 at the age of 86 and by five brothers, Horace Monroe “Sonny” Hart who died May 10, 1986 at the age of 76 and Rev. Ralph Leon Hart who died July 11, 2011 at the age of 90, Maurice Hart, Doyle Hart and Billy Joe Hart. In Old Hickory on Valentine Day, February 14, 1995, he was united in marriage to Walker County, Georgia native who was reared in the Helms Bend Community, the former Gladys Evelyn Bane. The ceremony was performed by Pastor Richard Bane. Rev. Hart gallantly served our country with both the United States Army and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Let us remember, “A soldier is free to be a hero, but it is courage which gives them honor and their sacrifices which gives us freedom”. Rev. Hart, before his retirement, served as the pastor of the Liberty Temple in Louisville, Kentucky from 1969 through 2000. At the time of his death he was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly in Old Hickory. Surviving in addition to his wife, Gladys Bane Hart, of over twenty five years is his son, Dennis Hart and wife Glenda of Morton’s Gap, Kentucky; two step-sons, Wayne Sanders and wife Natalie of Murfreesboro, Tony Sanders of Lebanon; six grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
