George L. "Midge" Chisholm, Jr. Obituary

George L. “Midge” Chisholm, Jr., of Melrose, passed away at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on August 7, 2020 at the age of 82. Midge was born & raised in Somerville and attended Somerville High School. He resided in Melrose for over 50 years and worked as a Mechanic for Continental Can Company in Malden for many years. He was a member and 2 time past Exalted Ruler of the Melrose Elks Lodge #1031. He was also a member of both Melrose Veteran’s of Foreign Wars (VFW) Clubs, Lt. Norman Prince Post #1506 and Harold O’ Young Post #2394. He was very active in both Melrose Pop Warner Football as well as Melrose Little League for many years. He was also very active in the Melrose band. Midge loved camping, boating, Sebago Lake and racing stock cars. He was the beloved husband of the late Ellen M. (Lacey) Chisholm. Loving father of David J. Chisholm & his wife Janine of Londonderry, NH and the late Renee M. Chisholm. Cherished grandfather of Dylan, Daniel, Kylie, Ryan, Courtney and Cordelia. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & many friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, August 11th from 4-7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Wednesday, August 12th at 11AM. (Due to the Covid 19, masks must be worn at the funeral home, church and cemetery). Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School, 100 Hemlock Rd., Wakefield, MA 01880.
