Joseph Charles Tines

Joseph Charles Tines, 90 years, died Wednesday August 5, 2020 at the Monarch Hospice House in Lincoln, NE after a very short illness. Joseph Tines was born June 16, 1930 in Bartley, Nebraska to Joe and Audrey (Burton) Tines. He grew up on a farm near Bartley with his sister Donna and graduated from Bartley High School. Shortly after graduation Joe entered the military and when stationed at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio he met and fell in love with Rosemary Maspero. They were married on May 3, 1952 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in San Antonio,TX. Joe and Rosemary moved to Fremont, NE in 1953. To this union six children were born. There are now 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren added to this loving family. Joe worked at Hormel meat packing plant for over 37 years and was honored as a very capable foreman when he retired in 1990. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont; a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a Eucharistic minister and a Toastmaster club participant. He and Rosemary made many gallons of ice cream through the years for St. Patrick’s annual June festival. Joe greatly relished hunting and fishing excursions with his friends, playing golf, and cultivating a prolific garden. He was a jack-of-all-trades and was fond of working in his shop and as a handyman around the house. He was a friendly guy and could start up a conversation with anyone. Rosemary and Joe often went out for ballroom and square dancing and liked playing bridge together with many friends. Winter months were spent in Mission,TX with their well-used camper. Rosemary was 83 years old at her passing on their 63rd wedding anniversary, May 3, 2015. Joe met Donna Swisher at a dance in Council Bluffs, IA. They were married October 17, 2015 and made their home first in Fremont and then in Council Bluffs, IA. In late January 2020 the couple moved to Assisted Living at the Primrose Senior Living Center in Council Bluffs. They provided much comfort and care to one another over the last 5 years. There will be a rosary at 9:00 a.m.and Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s church in Fremont, NE on Saturday August 8, 2020. Live Streaming is available at www.mosermemorialchapels.com. Masks are recommended. Burial with military honors will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 10, 2021 in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Archbishop Bergan Catholic Schools.
