He accepted Christ at a very early age joining Queen Esther Baptist Church in Muskegon Heights.  After high school, he attended Muskegon Community College for 2 years and then he relocated to Louisville, Kentucky where he attended ITT Technical School for Welding.  He graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Welding.  He decided to move back to Muskegon Heights and landed a job at ADAC Automotive in Grand Haven, Michigan. He worked at ADAC for almost 15 years until his branch moved to Mexico.  He eventually landed a job at the Walmart Corporation from 2010-2018 until retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Albert Kelley and Ronald Kelley and one sister, Marion Kelley.

In 1998, he married the love of his life, Vickie Elaine Williams.
