Douglas H. DeFries

On Tuesday, August 5, 2020, Douglas DeFries, loving companion, father and friend, passed away peacefully at age 65. Doug was born on September 26, 1954 in St Joseph, MI to Donald and Altha Mae (Ganshorn-Love) DeFries. He is survived by his beloved companion Stephanie Splan, his daughter Rebecca Splan, step-son Caleb Ezell; Siblings Alan (Bonnie) DeFries of Stevensville; Jayne (Robert) Tregoning of Lake Ann, MI. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Don, his mother, Altha Mae and his brother Larry (Ann) DeFries of Deerfield Beach, FL Doug had a passion for fishing and boating. He also loved to go for long drives & weekend getaways with long time life partner Stephanie Splan and spending time with his family. His friends know him for his kind and compassionate spirit and zest for life. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17th, 2020 at 12 o'clock p.m. at All Saints Cemetery on 4401 Nelsey Rd Waterford Twp, MI 48329. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I was thinking about Doug today so I made some tacos.when I worked at sportsmen's one of the things that he was very proud of was his tacos and he would make sure that us girls would get some and they were the best
