Sharon Diane Miller Obituary

Sharon Diane Miller

June 28, 1950 - August 4, 2020

Sharon passed away peacefully on August 4th, at the age of 70. She was surrounded by the same love and strength that she gave us her entire life. Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband Jean and their four children, Chad, Nicole, Delee, Ashley and their families:

- Chad and Melissa Miller of Spruce View AB, and their two children:

Brayden and Saydee;

- Nicole and Grayson Weir of Drayton Valley, AB and their two children,

 Alex and Emily;

- Delee and Dana Pyrch of Whitecourt, AB; and their two fur babies,

Jax and Izzy;

- Ashley Miller and Geoff Hopkins of Saskatoon, SK and their child,

Bodie Hopkins;

Survived by her two sisters, Beverly (Tom) and Shirley (David);

Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Marianne and Nelson Hulme.

Born in Avonlea, SK, Sharon grew up and went to school in Briercrest, SK.  After grade 10, Sharon moved to Moose Jaw to pursue a career in cosmetology. She loved fashion, wigs and could sell beauty products to anyone with her convincing spiels. Sharon worked in salons in Regina and Prince Albert until they decided to start a family in 1975. She later built her own salon in her home in Shellbrook, which allowed her to continue doing what she loved while balancing a family. Education was always very important to Sharon and she served on the School Board as a trustee for nine years.   Her passion for helping others naturally led to a career change and she completed her Continuing Care Assistant certification. She enjoyed her time working with seniors and created some special bonds with her clients.

Sharon married the love of her life, Jean on August 5th, 1972 in Briercrest. Sharon and Jean had many adventures together, camping and fishing. Through their 48 years of marriage they raised four children and enjoyed five grandchildren.  They loved their summers together at the lake. After retirement, dancing was something that they started to enjoy together. They looked forward to their nights of live music, dancing and socializing. Playing cards and board games was a favourite family memory sitting at the kitchen table with lots of laughs and bantering.

Sharon enjoyed tea parties with her granddaughters, which always included having special dishes, aprons and baking.

Sharon had a heart of gold and was always giving of her time. She showed her kindness and compassion to many through cooking meals, dropping off baking, fresh cut flowers and veggies from their amazing garden, or stopping in to check on seniors.

Sharon had an incredible green thumb and passion for gardening and flowers. She took great pride in her garden which grew each year with new species of fruits, veggies and flowers. Those around her always benefitted from her fruits of labour. She made the best homemade pickles, salsa and jams. It was always a hot commodity when a jar was pulled out, and they certainly did not last long.

From an early age, Sharon had a knack for cooking and baking. She made the best lemon meringue pie, fancy birthday cakes and her chocolate chip cookies were famous. Her baking was an expression of love and she enjoyed being able to share it with those around her.

A huge thank you to the health care professionals that cared for her; Laura, Pam, Lyndon, Alysha, Brenda, Troy Moore and Dr. Royeppen. You showed such compassion to Sharon during her journey and our family is very grateful for your support.
