Philip Crosby Morse Obituary

Philip Crosby Morse of North Sutton, New Hampshire, age 86, husband of Marilu Murphy Morse since 1966, passed peacefully on August 3, 2020 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH after a brief illness due to pneumonia and dysphagia, with his wife by his side. Phil was born May 16, 1934 in Framingham, MA to John and Marion Morse of Ashland, MA. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1952. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Airforce from March 1953 to January 1957 as an ECM Repairman. Phil and Marilu made their homes in Ashland, MA; Meredith, NH; Laconia, NH; New Bern, NC; and North Sutton, NH. After his days serving our country, he worked at Northeast Airlines, and Waters Associates, before moving on to a career managing manufacturing at ARP Instruments, Vernitron, and LBA Group, Inc. Phil enjoyed jazz music, playing guitar, home projects, and camping vacations with Marilu and their children. During his tenure at ARP, he met Stevie Wonder, the Rolling Stones, and was asked (but declined) to play the synthesizer in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Phil was an avid photographer, first in film with a home darkroom, and transitioning to digital in the late 1990s. He moderated several online digital photography groups, and was active in the New Bern Camera Club where he was editor of the club’s newsletter for many years until returning to his New England roots. In addition to his wife, Marilu Morse, he is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Debra Snow, and her husband, Russell Snow, and their children, Kendra Cyr and her husband Joseph Cyr, Shaun Snow and his husband Thomas O’Grady, and grandchildren, Myles Abreu and Jamyson Cyr; his son, Thomas Morse, and his wife, Mary Morse, and their children, Emma, Abigail, and Grace Morse; his daughter, Susan Morse, and her husband, Brett Cutler; his daughter, Christine Donovan, and her husband, Jerry Donovan, and their children, Jacob, Colin, and Brady Donovan; and his daughter, Laura Morse. Phil’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Jack Byrne Center staff for their wonderful care and to the family and friends who have offered many acts of kindness and support during his illness. A private service will be held for immediate family at the burial site in the Meredith Village Cemetery in Meredith, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH.
