Joseph F. Gagliardo, 55 of Lewistown, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Born July 23, 1965 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Antoinette Gagliardo. Joseph is survived by his wife Lori A. (Goss) Gagliardo, whom he married October 21, 2006; his daughter, Madison J. Gagliardo and a son, Joseph S. Gagliardo. He is also survived by his uncle, Ray Fultz and wife Lucretia of Lewistown; cousins, John Conley and wife Lisa of Lewistown; Dr. Dana Cope and wife Linda of Allentown and John O’Connor and wife Mary of Altoona. He was preceded in death by an uncle, John Conley and wife Mary. Joseph was a graduate of Lewistown High School Class of 1983 ; He received a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University in 1988 . While attending college, he worked at WMRF as a DJ Joe G; following college he was employed at Lepley Electric in Lewistown, followed by Lewistown Specialty Yarns. In 2000 , he began working for Lewistown Hospital, working his way up to become Vice President of facilities. He left the hospital in 2015 to be Director of building and grounds for Mifflin County School District. Joseph was a firefighter and EMT with FAME EMS and former fire company for many years. He was known by many as a local property and business owner, buying an apartment building at 31 Chestnut Street in 2011 followed by several others including the purchasing of The Lewistown Hotel in 2013. He owned various rental properties in Lewistown and purchased South Side Laundry in 2015. He enjoyed various hobbies, he was an excellent marksman, spending weekends at the range with his family. He was an accomplished photographer also. His photographs adorn numerous homes and buildings in the area; mostly he enjoyed spending time at home with his beloved children. Joseph was very loved and respected by his family , friends, employees and the community. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6 to 9 p.m,, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at the Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Juniata Memorial Park with Pastor Mark Hill to officiate. Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.barrfh.com
