JoEllen Hone Obituary

Roma JoEllen Hone, 73, passed away on August 1, 2020 in her home in Logandale, NV. JoEllen was born on April 16, 1947 in Overton, NV to Garner Andersen and Roma Reber. She was raised in Moapa Valley, and graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 1965. She then attended Dixie College for two years, then left on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Andes South Mission for two years. She served in Bolivia, Peru and other areas of South America, and loved the people she met there. Upon returning from her mission, she worked at the credit union in Moapa Valley, and she met Dennis Hone while working. They didn’t speak for a year, until Dennis called her and asked her out on a date. They were shortly engaged, and married on August 24, 1974. Their marriage was a whirlwind, and they had their four children in the next seven years. Jo and Dennis enjoyed their time together until his passing on May 20, 2014.

JoEllen was very active in her faith, and was involved in the many presidencies, teaching assignments, and service opportunities. She loved doing family history work, and even learned German to better record the genealogy documents. She loved playing the piano, gardening, embroidery, music and reading. She treasured the times she shared with her loved ones. Her family would often go on day trips, driving through every back road in Nevada and Utah. JoEllen loved her grandchildren, and would sing and visit while she would hold them.

JoEllen is survived by her daughters, Kerri (Phillip) DeMille, Kory (Daniel) Bevan, and Hiedi (Michael) Palmer; her daughter-in-law, Elisabeth (James) Carson; her fifteen grandchildren; her siblings, Kim (Shawna), Jeff (Trish), Stan, Weston (Kim), and Shanalee (Scott), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Hone and her son, Ryan Hone.
