EWING, NJ - On Sunday, August 2, 2020, Irene Marie Griffith (née Petock) of Ewing, NJ, passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90 years old. Irene, a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, had spent the weekend surrounded by her family. Irene was born on December 15, 1929 in Mahanoy City, PA, to Wassel Petock and Mary Urban Petock. Irene married Ivor Griffith (known to all as Bud) on October 21, 1950. She is survived by her husband, Bud; two sons, David and Ronald (Tracy); her niece, Linda (Anton); five grandchildren: Paul (Caroline), Paige, Conner, Cassidy, and Christopher; a great-niece, Sasha; and two great-grandchildren: Daniel and Hannah. Irene and Bud met as teenagers at a local dance and she continued to have a love of dancing for the rest of her life. She was happiest gathering with family and friends. Her favorite things to do included playing cards with the girls, visiting Atlantic City, and reading. She was proud of having a long career at Trenton State College (now called TCNJ), and she instilled a legacy of hard work and a commitment to family. She was a parishioner at The Church of Saint Ann in Lawrenceville, NJ. Friends may call Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 10-11am at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road, Pennington, NJ 08534. A funeral service will take place at 11am at the funeral home.
