John “Tommy” Gross Obituary

John “Tommy” Gross age 73 of Breckenridge, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Wednesday, August 5th at Elliott St. Church of Christ with Don Nelson and Jim Cox officiating. Interment will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, August 6th at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, Tuesday, August 4th at Morehart Mortuary. John Lewis Gross was born November 5, 1946 in Floydada, Texas to Oscar Gross and Wilma Shackelford Gross. He graduated from Dimmitt High School and continued his education at Texas Tech University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Tommy married Linda Dee Gibbs in Dimmitt on July 1, 1967. Tommy worked as a sales representative for 37 years for CIBA, which then turned into Syngenta. He did such an exceptional job for them that the company was still trying to hire him back as a consultant. The Gross’ later retired and moved to Breckenridge where they have made their home for the past 13 years. Tommy was a member of Elliott St. Church of Christ where he was an elder. In his spare time, Tommy loved being at the lake and spending time with his grandkids. He loved to go fishing for catfish, whether it be on the dock or in his boat. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Wilma Gross; one sister, Darlene Cassetty. Tommy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Gross of Breckenridge; three sons, Troy Gross & wife Paula of Dumas, Greg Gross of Spearman, Jason Gross & wife Sara of Amarillo; two brothers, Darrell Pierce & wife Jean of Illinois, Keith Gross & wife Regi of Weatherford; one sister, Bernadine Tiner of Breckenridge; seven grandchildren, John Gross, Jeffery Gross, Cameron Gross, Connor Gross, Kyson Gross, Keagan Compton, Kaitlyn Compton and numerous nieces and nephews.
