LeNora M. Swan Farabee Obituary

 

LeNora (Hinch Swan) Farabee, age 72, of New London, MO passed away at 9:45 pm Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the Hannibal First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Jason Young, Pastor Mark Burkey, and Pastor Wayne LaForce will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

Visitation celebrating LeNora's life will be held at 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday August 5, 2020, at the Hannibal First Church of the Nazarene. 

The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the visitation and services for LeNora but due to Covid-19 we are asking you to follow social distancing guidelines. Please stay six feet apart and avoid close contact. Anyone in attendance is encouraged to wear a mask or other personal protective equipment.

LeNora was born on December 20, 1947, in Newton, Iowa the daughter of  George and Nancy (Gooch) Hinch.

LeNora was previously married to William "Fred" Swan on June 28, 1980, in Hannibal, he preceded her in death on March 3, 2010.  She later married Gordon Farabee on November 7, 2015, in Hannibal, he survives her of the home. 

Other survivors include a son, Dennis Dooley of Hannibal; daughters, Kathy Womack (Paul) of Quincy, IL and Kari Garrett (Louis) of Hannibal; brothers, Joe Hinch of Frankford and Paytie Hinch of Frankford; sisters, Shirley Johnson (Dwayne) of Hannibal, and Teddie Cook (Ernie) of Renssalaer, MO; grandchildren, Katelyn Edgar (Andrew), Britta Dooley (Austin Simms), Hayley Womack (Brady Sloup), Brant Dooley (Kylie Sutton), Jaycie Spake (Noah), and Maddie Garrett; great grandchildren, Jordy Bartels, Ava Edgar, River Dooley, and Carter Simms; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. 

In addition to her parents and husband Fred, LeNora was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Janet Hinch and Debra Hinch and brother-in-law, Ron McIntosh. 

LeNora graduated from Hannibal High School in the class of 1965.

Professionally before retirement LeNora worked as the Office Manager for the Missouri Department of Conservation in Hannibal.

LeNora loved her job working for the Conservation Department, she enjoyed going out electrofishing at area lakes, Eagle Days and was known by her colleagues as "Mother Hen".

Family was everything to LeNora. LeNora loved spending the holidays with her family, Black Friday shopping together and preparing holiday dinners especially Christmas.  She was always there to support her grandchildren and great grandchildren in any event they were involved in.  

In her younger years, LeNora was an avid bowler and had bowled on several All-Star teams.  In her free time, LeNora enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel, decorating her home and church and watching the wildlife around her home.

LeNora was a faithful member of  the Hannibal First Church of the Nazarene, where she was the President of the Mission Board for thirty plus years, taught the Caravan Children's Group for several years and sang in the praise team.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Edgar, Noah Spake, Brant Dooley, Austin Simms, Dwayne Johnson, and Ernie Cook.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Pafford, Mike Hinch, Bill Hinch, Joe Johnson and Paytie Lee Hinch. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
