HARRY CHARLES SMITH Obituary

HARRY SMITH age 78. Beloved husband of Kathy (nee Hague) and the late Rosalie (nee Voorhees). Loving father of Sharri Deutsch (Kevin) and Harry “Chuck” Smith (Kelly). Step-father of Amy Cebulis (Ray), Mark and Michael Crooks. Cherished grandfather of 11. Dear brother of Harriet Baker (deceased) (Glenn) and Donald Smith (deceased)(Shelby).

When we think of Harry, we think of FAMILY and reflect on all the wonderful times that he shared with all of us.  He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Father-In-Law. Pap-Pap, Pappa Harry, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend to so many.

Harry’s love for his family showed in the ways he was there for all of us no matter what.  Becoming a father to Sharri and Chuck was one of his greatest joys as he helped them grow into loving, caring adults. He was able to watch each of them start families of their own and be there as they taught their children about the importance of family.  Harry was fortunate enough to find love twice in his lifetime.  He was married to Rosalie (his high school sweetheart) for 34 years and he remained loyal to her until her death in 1997.  Harry later met Kathy and they had 14 years as husband and wife and made memories of their own by traveling and spending time with family.  Harry loved his grandchildren so much and spent so much time watching them play soccer, t-ball, baseball, softball, football, basketball, cheerleading.  You could see the pride in his eyes when he watched any of them.  He leaves behind 11 grandchildren (6 that call him Pap-Pap and 5 that call him Papa Harry).  Austin, Tyler, Connor, Meredith, Caitlin, Parker, Miranda, Nick, Carter, Kylie and Maze are all better because he was a part of their lives.

Harry was a hard worker who retired from GM. after 34 years of dedication.  He also loved his church and would regularly attend Ridgewood United Methodist on Sundays.  He loved to travel to places like Myrtle Beach, Hawaii and Las Vegas.  He was an avid sports fan and loved Cleveland sports and you could regularly catch him watching the Indians, Browns and CAVS and either cheering them on or complaining, but he was always a fan! Harry was a golfer and accomplished his goal of getting a hole in one several years ago…he was so proud!

Today, we ask you to remember the wonderful man he was and to keep his family in your prayers as we mourn our loss.  We will forever keep sweet memories of Harry in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, contributions requested to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
