Ervin Slater "Slats" Palmer

Ervin Slater Palmer was born on October 8, 1923 in Dayton OH and grew up around Ohio. He served in the United States Army in World War II in France, attended The Ohio State University on the GI Bill and worked in Cleveland for NBC. There, he met and married Carol Engelbert with whom he shared 65 years. After the birth of their first baby Cynthia Ruth, the family moved to Los Angeles, CA, where their second child, Ervin Christopher was born. Slats worked as an accountant in the aerospace industry in the South Bay Area of Los Angeles, enjoyed sailing on Magic 4, weekending in Palm Springs and vacationing in Mexico. He retired early to invest full time in commercial real estate, including Elsinore West Marina. In later years Slats and Carol moved back to Ohio to be near family. Slats was a decent humble, honest, enterprising man. He was unfailingly kind and caring. He knew what was right and he did it. Slats passed peacefully on August 1, 2020 at the age of 96. He was the beloved husband of Carol (nee Engelbert) Palmer. Loving father of Cynthia (Michael) Seid and the late Ervin Christopher Palmer. Cherished grandfather of Claire (Paul Romer) Seid, Arielle Seid, and Benjamin Seid. Devoted son of the late Ervin and Gladys Palmer. Dear brother of the late Theodore Brewer Palmer. Private family services will be held.
