Bithel James Porter

Mr. Bithel James “Jim” Porter, 74, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020. A graveside funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 am in the Porter Cemetery near Ivy Road. Mr. Porter, son of the late Bithel Jasper Porter and Gladys Julia Hardee Porter, was a native of Pitt County. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam. For many years he was employed in the construction business and for the last 17 years was with Gaylord Builders. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William Bruce (Bill) Hardee. He is survived by a sister, Helen Christine Porter Wicker of Chesapeake, VA; and two brothers, Lyman Earl Hardee and wife Linda and Gerald Wayne Hardee and wife Faye, all of Greenville. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
