Mabel Phyllis SHERDAHL Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Mabel announce her passing on July 30, 2020 at the Rosetown Rose Villa. She was the youngest daughter of four, born on December 8, 1924 to Walter and Rose Lambden of D’Arcy. Mabel married Ken Sherdahl from Brock on January 15, 1944. They had two children, the late Neil (Celeste Sherdahl Hoste) and Debbie (Bob) Paisley. She was blessed with four grandsons, Aaron (Lacey), and Quinn (Andi) Sherdahl and Trent (Jackie) and Tayler (Justine) Paisley, and three great-grandchildren Brady, Abigail and Rowen Sherdahl. She leaves many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband and son; three sisters Muriel (Keith) Johnston, Winnie (Stuart) Holtzman and Mildred (Peter) Donald; as well as one sister-in-law Esther (Syd) Bennett; three brothers-in-law Ralph (Mabel), Gordon (Emily) and Roy (Chris) Sherdahl.

Mabel and Ken were a “team” – operating a barbershop/lunch counter confectionary in D’Arcy for many years. In 1966 they moved to Rosetown where Mabel was the manager of Sears. Here she was involved in many volunteer and community services such as Rebekahs, United Church, Carpet bowl and Rosetown Music Festivals. She enjoyed curling, bowling, playing cards, and bingo.

Mabel loved gardening (especially her award-winning roses). She treasured her travel with family including trips to the old country of her parents – England, with her nieces to Eastern Canada and taking her family to Disneyland.

She was one hard-working lady that plowed through pain a lot of her life. Yet, she could always give you a smile that would just make your day. We all got many of those when we arrived at the Villa to visit. Thanks to all staff at the Villa for your compassion and complete care of Mabel.

Donations in her memory may be made to Heartland Health Region, (Rosetown & District Health Centre Long Term Care Activity Fund) P.O. Box 653, Rosetown, SK S0L 2V0 or Rosetown United Church, P.O. Box 506, Rosetown, SK S0L 2V0.

A family graveside service to took place at Rosetown Cemetery on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 with Reverend Allan Gairns officiating.
