Clyde Dudley Hefner Obituary

Clyde Hefner, 87 of Amarillo passed away August 1, 2020, in Amarillo. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Trinity Fellowship Church West Auditorium with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating. Clyde will be available for viewing from 12:00 – 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Clyde was born September 18, 1932, to Clyde and Lilla Mae Hefner in Quitaque. He married his sweetheart Joyce Hefner on December 20, 1951, in Amarillo, they spent nearly 70 wonderful years together. Clyde enjoyed camping in their RV and fishing, going to the rodeo and the races almost every week. He liked bluegrass music and was also a fan of the Gaithers. As his children grew up he helped coach kids sports, specifically for the Hamlet Elementary community. Clyde and his wife attended Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo. He worked as a painter and contractor for several companies in the Amarillo area and was a member of “IBPAT” International Brotherhood of Painters and Trade (Local #544). He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, specifically Clarissa Gamez, Shawn Tucker, Dee Ann Osteen, Tonya Haidle, Angle Gardner and DeAnn Dunnihoo.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stacey Dwight; one sister, Nora Callan; one son-in-Law, Rick Palmer.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Hefner of the home; daughter, Linda Palmer; two sons, Mike Hefner and wife Brenda, Gary (Buck) Hefner and wife Carolyn all of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; Amanda Nichols and husband Mark, Amber Palmer-Halma and husband Brian, Arin Palmer, Brandon Hefner, Christie Boswell and husband Jack, Stephanie Hefner Smith and husband Anthony, Stacey Hefner and wife Sara; nine great grandchildren, Micah, Laura, Tori, Reagon, Brody, Lisa, Avery, Emersyn, Silas, Jakob and Joshua.
