Donnis William Doman Lewistown, Montana Obituary

Donnis William Doman

Donnis Doman, 72, of Winnett, MT peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown after a long battle of COPD.  Donnis was born in Lewistown on Oct. 17th, 1947 to William and Lillian Doman.  He graduated from Winnett High School in 1965. After High School, he joined the Army National Guard in Lewistown, MT, where he served 7 years.  In 1968, he married Elizabeth Lehmann and had 3 children: William, Darryn and Danette.  They were married for 20 years and built their home on the family ranch in Winnett.  For decades, Donnis lived his life ranching, which he loved.   Donnis later began dating Barbara Lea (aka Babs).  After several years together, “Babs” moved in for good on the ranch, in 2005.    Donnis is a sweet and thoughtful grandfather to his grandchildren.  He never missed sending cards and gifts during their birthdays or holidays.  He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, his wildly entertaining stories and his unfailing work ethic.  Donnis was a big supporter of many community activities either by sitting on their boards, or as a financial supporter.  He served on the board of directors of Petroleum County Stockgrowers for 5 years and was president for a 1 year term, a member of the fraternal organizations of Mason’s and Eagles, nominating committee for Fergus Electric Co-op, and was on the Winnett Lions Club for 19 years and served 3 years as the treasurer.  Donnis is survived by his longtime partner, Barbara Lea; sons, William Doman, and Darryn (Joan) Doman; daughter, Danette (Jeremy) Gilbertson; grandsons, Riley Komarek, Walker Doman, Cooper Doman, and Liam Doman; granddaughter, Ashley Komarek; and baby Livanna Doman due to be born in November 2020.  He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian; and his uncle, Johnny Sibbert. At Donnis’ request, no services will be held. The family requests that memorials be sent to Central Montana Foundation, Petroleum County Community Center (PCCC/CMF).  Po Box 63, Winnett, MT 59087  Creel Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. I will miss sitting and bullshiting with Donnis. I loved to hear his stories and sit and have a beer or two with him. He was such a great guy and I enjoyed being around him. He was so good to my kids when we visited. He treated them as his own grandkids. Rest in Peace.
