Jennifer Sutera Holmdel, New Jersey Obituary

Jennifer Sutera

Mrs. Jennifer Sutera, 63, of Manalapan, NJ passed away at home on Friday morning, July 24th, 2020. Born in Brooklyn, NY Jennifer lived in Staten Island prior to moving to Manalapan more than 20 years ago. She just loved people, and loved being a good friend with a warm and open heart to everyone. She was very civic minded, and she volunteered for many different causes. Jennifer was a very active resident of the Manalapan community. She had a good sense of humor, and just loved having people around her. She was a fan of Atlantic City, primarily the penny slots. She was an avid reader. Vacations with family were a great love to her, especially cruises. She could return home from a cruise already thinking of and planning the next one. Jennifer was a graduate of Brooklyn College where she earned her Bachelor degree. She was a teacher for over 30 years. During those years Jennifer taught at St. Thomas Acquinas School in Brooklyn, Holy Rosary School in Staten Island, and at the Holy Family School in Lakewood, NJ. She also volunteered her time as a CCD teacher at her home Parish of St. Thomas More, in Manalapan. Jennifer loved the gift that she posessed as an educator, and she was dedicated to whatever endeavor she was involved in. She was elected to the Freehold Regional High School Board several years ago. Currently, she was serving as the Vice President of that Board, and worked as an office administrator for the Construction Department of Manalapan Township. Jennifer gave much of her time to many different causes and organizations in her community, for instance, the Mayor's Charity Ball, Manalapan Day, and others. She gave herself to these different causes always with the greater good of others foremost in her mind. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Stephen, by her son Stephen and his wife Gina, daughter Lauren, daughter Jacqueline and her fiancee Stephen Zigari, her grandchildren Ava and Nicolette Sutera, her loving mother Connie Ciccone, brothers Laurence and his wife Christine Ciccone, Thomas and his wife Karen Ciccone, Louis and his wife Shawn Reale, mother in law Theresa Sutera, sister in law Nannette and her husband Dino Mezzouiso, and by many neices, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel on Monday July 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Jennifer on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan. Interment will then follow at St. Gabriel Catholic Cemetery, State Road 520, Marlboro, NJ. The Funeral Home is required by the Governor of New Jersey to enforce social distancing and have a maximum of 100 people. Masks are required.

You will always be remembered by me as one of the very kindest people I ever met. We both held the position of President of the Freehold Regional Board of Education and I enjoyed going to every meeting because you were there. You will be forever missed.
