Melvin Dale RAMSEYER

RAMSEYER: Melvin Dale , 87, of Tavistock passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Mel was born in East Zorra Township, Oxford County on January 6, 1933 a son of the late Alvin B. and Mary Ann (Roth) Ramseyer. Mel had farmed in East Zorra Township for thirty-five years prior to retiring and moving to Tavistock in 1995. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock, was a member of the Optimist Club of Tavistock and Tavistock Agricultural Society. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mel is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Rose Bickle, whom he married on July 25, 1958; four children, Gail and husband Steve Yantzi, Steve Ramseyer and Jennifer Baechler, Joan and husband Tim Hergott, Rob and wife Sherry Ramseyer; ten grandchildren, Ryan Yantzi ( Megan Mair) , Amber Ballantyne (Jason), Alec Ramseyer (Taylor Mores), Hayden Ramseyer, Courtney Bender, Jackson Hergott, Jamieson Hergott (Madelynne Sullivan), Cassandra Schacht (Andrew), Travis Ramseyer (Cassidy Kieswetter), Victoria Ramseyer (Jake Paterson); five great grandchildren, Kobe, Reese, Harlee, Sloane and :Weston; three brothers, Donald Ramseyer (Bernice), Mayne Ramseyer (Shirley), Paul Ramseyer (Diane Godfrey); three sisters, Helen MacKenzie, Edith Schneider and Elaine Novak; his~sister-in-law, Carolyn Ramseyer (Rudy Jacobs) and brothers-in-law, Glen Bickle and Walter Blum. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law, Oliver and Inez Ramseyer, Earl Ramseyer and Betty Lou Ramseyer; brothers-in-law, Walter Zehr, John T. MacKenzie and Percy Schneider and "Bickle" sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lenore and Wilfred Steinacker, LaVerne Blum, Della and Fraser Neeb. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Friday from 3-7 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock on Saturday, July 25, 2020. The Rev. Richard P. Brown will officiate. Interment in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. (Please wear a mask and social distance). As expressions of sympathy, donations to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Optimist Club of Tavistock would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431.
