Dorothy A Breckenridge

On July 17, 2020   Dorothy Ayres Breckenridge passed away at the age of 90. She was preceded by her late husband Robert Breckenridge who died in 1991 and her son Tyrone Aidsa Breckenridge died in 2013.
Dorothy was born on May 29, 1930 in Long Branch N.J. She was raised in Red Bank N.J. She attended Red Bank elementary schools and graduated from Red Bank Rgn. High school in 1947. 
She married Robert Breckenridge in 1950 and shortly after they moved into Fair Haven where they raised their six children. 
Dorothy loved her heavenly father, she was a dedicated parishioner, during her younger years she attended the A.M.E. Zion church of Red Bank, after moving to Fair Haven she joined the Fisk Chapel A.M.E. church and later was a member of the Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church in Middletown, N.J. Over the years she served on many committees within those churches, she was a Missionary and a member of the choirs, she participated in bible study she also served as a Stewardess.
Dorothy worked for the Borough of Fair Haven as a crossing guard, her post was in front of Knollwood school and you would find her standing out there Rain, Sleet or Snow  “yelling” cross and for children to stay on the curb, until she told them it was safe to cross. She held that post for 18 years. She really loved her job, greeting the children each day and keeping them safe year after year.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her five children, Crystal Harris and her husband, Eddie of Augusta Ga. Terry Breckenridge and his wife Serena of Fair Haven, NJ. William Breckenridge and his wife Joanne of Elizabethtown, Ky. Kevin Breckenridge his wife Yvonne of Eatontown, N.J. and Darryl Breckenridge Sr. and his wife Dana of Ocean Twp. N.J. 16 grandchildren, 35 Great grandchildren, 8 Great Great grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was a great Mom she treated everyone with respect, courtesy and kindness and she always told us to “smile and say hello -cause it cost nothing to be nice” 
Visitation will be open to the public at the Braun Funeral Home in Eatontown. on Friday July 24, 10am until 12Pm The Funeral will be private @1230PM.
