Myra Turner Nichols
Dateline: Gastonia Myra Turner Nichols, 50, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at home on June 19, 2016. A native of Gastonia, she was the daughter of the late James Glenn Turner. Myra was a 1983 graduate of Ashbrook High School and was a longtime member of Fraley Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from the City of Gastonia as Division Manager of Neighborhood and Community Resources. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Warner Doles and Rev. Charles Keller officiating. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Survivors include her husband, Bucky Nichols; her mom, Sara Turner and friend, Ron; her children, Matt Messer, Jennifer and James Brown, Hannah and Andrew Morgan and Bailey Nichols; father of Matt and Jennifer, Roger Messer and his mother, Betty Messer; grandchildren, Lydia Grace and Boone Morgan; brother, Chris Turner and wife, Lisa; mother in law, Nancy Pierce; step mother in law, Pat Nichols; aunt, Jean Johnson and husband, Tommy; uncle, Jerry Turner and wife, Louise; nephew, Grayson Turner; niece, Laura Turner, among many other nieces and nephews; sisters in law, Deana Spratt and husband, Tony, Kristy Case; brother in law, Jason Nichols and wife, Michelle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
