James Curtis Beard Obituary

James Curtis Beard, 82, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the George Regional Hospital in Lucedale, MS. Mr. Beard served his nation in the United States Army for six years and then two years in the United States Army Reserves. He enjoyed fishing and loved to spend time in his garden. He also was known to barbeque and grill for his family and friends. More than anything else, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Beard was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 52 years, Mary Hall Beard; son, James Christopher Beard; granddaughter, Christina Louise Burch; and his parents, William Wilson and Zora Miller Beard.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Virginia (Alan) Burch, Stacey (Jr.) Smith, and Monica (Mark) Edwards; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, John Alvin Beard; special friend, Jonathan Polkey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at East Salem Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Walley officiating. Online condolences may be given at www.freemanleakesville.com. Freeman Funeral Home- Leakesville, MS
