George Ralph Rice

George Ralph Rice, 87, a resident of Tucker, Georgia, passed away December 10, 2015. Ralph was born April 19, 1928 in Stuart, Florida to William Hussler and Beatrice (Henderson) Rice. After graduation from Avondale High School, he served in the Army for 2 years. He worked in the Transportation field and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 20 years. A very industrious, hard working man, Ralph continued working after retirement for Decatur Cleaners and was there for 17 years. He was a deacon at Rehoboth Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant of the Lord for 27 years, previously a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for 10 years. Ralph was a quiet, loving man who had a servant's heart. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, which was priceless to him. He enjoyed family vacations, camping, playing Scrabble and putting together jigsaw puzzles with Ann. He was a fan of the Falcons, Braves, and Georgia Tech football. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Victor and Melton, sister Sarah, and son Stephen Ralph Rice. He is survived by his wife, Ann Griffin Rice of Tucker, daughter Vicky Logan & son-in-law Mike Logan of Atlanta, his brother Reverend Calvin Rice of Lakeland, Florida, and many loving nieces and nephews. Ralph was a quiet, loving man who had a servant's heart. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, December 14, 2015 in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with Dr. Troy Bush officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. A.S.
