Obituary
Janice Cearley, 69, of Big Spring, died Tuesday in San Antonio. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Pastor Bill Ivins officiating. Janice was born July 22, 1945, in Big Spring to Florine “Pete” and W. A. Cobb. She married Jim Cearley on September 28, 1963, in Big Spring. Janice was a homemaker. For many years she was choir mother at First United Methodist Church, and also for many years she was homeroom mother. She collected sea shells and copper. She loved cooking, canning, and teaching cooking. But most of all she loved family gatherings. Janice is survived by her husband: Jim Cearley of Big Spring; one son: Jimmy Cearley and his wife Terri of Cibolo; one daughter: Vicki Matthews and her husband Craig of Cibolo; five grandchildren: K’Leigh Moore and her husband Brad of Port Neches, Cody Cearley and his fiancée Cheyene Colombe of New Braunfels, and Conner Cearley, Grace Matthews, and Autumn Mathews, all of Cibolo; four brothers: Alf Cobb and his wife Claudia of Owasso, Oklahoma, Ken Cobb and his wife Shirlie of Big Spring, Doug Walker and his wife Sharla of Damon, and Jody Dawdy of Big Spring; one sister: Donna Laster and her husband Bill of Seguin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister: Martha Henry. Those serving as pallbearers are Doug Walker, Jody Dawdy, Kenny Cobb, David Cobb, Brant Laster, Jason Laster and Tracey Cearley. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
