Kurt Arnold Bergen TISDALE, Saskatchewan Obituary

Kurt Arnold Bergen

Kurt Arnold Bergen of Tisdale, SK. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 8th, 2020 at the age of 92. After several months of declining health, Kurt died peacefully in his sleep, at home. His wife Margaret and his eldest daughter Colleen were with him. Kurt was born at home in Carlton, SK. on May 4th, 1928 to Aron & Elsa Bergen; the second of three sons and brother to one older sister. In the farming community of Carlton where Kurt grew up, he learned to love horses at a young age and became quite a horseman. Later he moved to Cecil Lake, B.C. to live with his sister, Hilda and her husband Ernie, working for a logging company there. Always enjoying creating things with his hands; he even built his own log cabin while living there. It was during his time in B.C. that he and Margaret began a long-distance relationship, Kurt spent many hours driving back and forth to Horselake, SK. to spend time with his sweetheart. Kurt and Margaret were wed in June of 1959 and just recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary together. Kurt and Margaret spent the first year of their marriage at Cecil Lake, B.C. and then moved to Carlton, Sk. near both of their family homes. They spent many good years in both grain and cattle farming together in Carlton where all six of their children were born. Then in 1977, his love for animals and raising cattle led him, his wife Margaret and family to McKague, SK., where there was abundant well water to provide for his Charlais cattle. Kurt had fond memories of being a school bus driver for thirteen years in the community of McKague. In 1996 Kurt decided to hang up his farming hat and retire to the town of Tisdale. Kurt is preceded in death by his parents (Aron & Elsa), his sister Hilda (Ernie), his brothers Paul (Rosalind), and Art (Pat) and his daughter-in-law Debbie (Carey). He is survived by his wife Margaret, his children, Colleen (Gordon Glasgow), Brenda (Richard Parent), Bev (Daniel Mayerle), Carey (Leah Bussieres), Christine (Neil Dierker) & Keith (Tracey Stadnyk), his sixteen grandchildren and his eight great grandchildren. Kurt is remembered for his quiet nature and his honest way of communicating. He dearly loved his wife of many years and he loved and prayed for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His quiet faith was evident to us and we are looking forward to reuniting with him one day. We are thankful to our Savior Jesus Christ for the hope of our salvation and the promise of heaven. http://vimeo.com/interactministries/review/441157123/e2b7423aeb
