Velma Chapman, age 85, of Saraland, formally of State Line, Mississippi, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 30, 1934 in State Line, MS to Eliga and Hattie Davis Revette. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of Saraland Baptist Church. Preceding her in death, are her sisters, Jewell Helton and Maxie Case; and brothers, Grant Revette and James Revette. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Preston; daughters, Linda (David) Phillips of Daphne and Cindy (Victor) McDonald of Satsuma; sons, Bobby (Cheryl) Chapman of Mobile and Tony (Holly) Chapman of Saraland; step-daughter Stephanie Preston of Mobile; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 9700 Celeste Rd. Saraland. The family will be accepting friends beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday. Interment will immediately follow services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Bro. Todd Richardson will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Chapman, Tony Chapman, Mike Phillips, Ken McDonald, Darren Chapman, and Jason Chapman. Due to new COVID-19 restrictions, face coverings will be required to attend all funeral services.
