Johnie William Freeman, Jr., 87, of Spencer passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospice House with his family by his side. Johnie was born in Owen County, Indiana on November 12, 1932 to Johnie Sr. and Goldie (Bruner) Freeman.

Johnie married Mildred Cain on January 17, 1951 in Bloomington. He retired from Wetterau Foods in Bloomington. Johnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Johnie is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred Freeman of Spencer; seven children, Rhonda Arthur (Garold) of Spencer, Patricia Gunderman (Dennis) of Spencer, Michael Freeman (Linda Hallman) of Chevy Chase, Maryland, John "Andy" Freeman (Sue) of Spencer, Larry Freeman (Linda) of Jasper, Geneva Green (Matthew) of Spencer and Loretta Patton (John) of Gosport; six siblings, Samuel Freeman, Ira Freeman, Nancy Fulk, Martha Hamm, Rosamae Hendricks and Barbara McQueen; twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Russell, Joseph, Donald and Leon Freeman, sister Lois Freeman, and great grandson Dominic Arthur.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2020 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer with  Pastor Ben Muncie officiating. Burial will follow at Gross Cemetery in Whitehall.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 PM on Sunday and 9:00 AM on Monday until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Brotherhood Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
