Frank George Stone, 79, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. He suffered a heart attack at home and was later pronounced dead at 6:45 a.m. at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Ohio.
Mr. Stone was born in Passage Fort, St. Catherine on May 17, 1941. After completing secondary school in nearby Port Henderson, Mr. Stone was admitted to the Bernard Lodge apprenticeship program during which he also completed a diploma as a Machinist and Fitter at Dinthill Technical School in Linstead, St. Catherine. He worked as a machinist for the Bernard Lodge sugar manufacturing facility for more than a decade, and later served as Assistant Manager of the Thermoset Limited plastic lamination factory located in Naggo Head, St. Catherine. Mr. Stone immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1988 and worked for the remainder of his career at MPC Plating, a plastics and metal coating company where he was employed as a machinist.
Mr. Stone was an exemplary father who preached the benefits of hard work to his children. “Have some ambition,” was his oft-repeated exhortation. He enjoyed playing cricket in his youth, loved watching horse races and in later years enjoyed watching televised sports of all kinds. He was a vocal and enthusiastic spectator at his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. Mr. Stone was also a long-time congregant of the St. Aloyisius Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio where he worshipped with his family.
He will be forever missed by his wife, Dorothy Stone (nee Samuels), and cherished by his dear children, Sharon (Greg Dunn), Judy (Clifton Hart), Maurice, Patrina, Weldon (Sara Stone), Joan (Leland Mays), Howard and Samantha, as well as stepdaughters Kleopatra Blackwood and Cimone Blackwood. Mr. Stone was a proud grandfather to Dallas, Griffin and Cassidy Stone Dunn; Jenya, Ryan, Joshua and Ashleigh Hart; Shiloi, Sade, Shylee, Taijah, Keyshawn, Andre and Elijah Stone; Stefon, Christopher and Stephanie Clark; Nicholas Stone; Jaylen Todd; Brianna Blackwood-Mallory; Jason Ballentine and David Tate. He was beloved great-grandfather to Caliana and Justice John; Cadence and Sydney Hart; and, Evander and Ayla Marinov.
He will be held dear in the hearts of all his family, relatives, and many friends.
A funeral service for Frank Stone will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Dovecot. Chapel, St. John’s Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine. Burial to follow at the Dovecot Memorial Park.
