Robert Leo Beckman

Robert Leo "Bob" Beckman, 91, passed from this life on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 19th at St. Theresa Catholic Church, located at 1230 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. The family will greet friends prior to mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Bob was born May 12, 1924, in Kansas City, MO to Leo John and Antonella Katherine (Horn) Beckman. He married Rosemary Kean on September 11, 1948, in Des Moines, IA and their marriage was blessed with five children. Bob was a member of St. Theresa Church. He enjoyed bicycling (96, 000 miles in 40 years), playing cribbage and volunteering as an instructor for the AARP Safe Driving Program. Survivors include his five children: William (Nancy) Beckman of Tinley Park, IL, Katherine Beckman and Joanne Beckman both of Marietta, GA, Carol (Jim Davies) Beckman and John (Fran) Beckman both of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters. Bob was preceded into eternal life by his wife, Rosemary, his parents; one brother and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa Church. ARRANGEMENTS BY ILES ~ WESTOVER CHAPEL.
