Ernest Nielsen

Ernest W. Nielsen, 84, died December 11, 2015. He was born on June 30, 1931 to Dr. Ernest D. and A. Frances Nielsen in Chicago Illinois. Prior to college Ernest worked on ore boats sailing the Great Lakes as a member of the Merchant Marines. He went on to Grand View College (class of 1952) where he first met his future wife Dorothy (nee Mosier). After graduating from college Ernest volunteered for the Korean War where he served as a military policeman in Seoul. After his honorable discharge he began a 40 year career at Iowa Paint Manufacturing in charge of quality control. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Brian and Paul and his wife. He is survived by his son Ernest R. Nielsen. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Monday, December 14, at Iles –Grandview Park Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Glendale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nielsen Concert series at Grand View University.
