Janice Marie Seivert, 74, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will follow at Beaver Catholic Cemetery. Jan was born October 18, 1941, in Rockwell City, Iowa, daughter of Richard John and Alma Marie Schulte. She married Clem Seivert on October 27, 1962, at Assumption Church in Granger. They made their home in Granger where they raised their four children. Jan had a passion for quilting and belonged to four quilting groups. Her legacy to her children, grandchildren and siblings was to leave each a hand-crafted quilt. These quilts represented a "warm hug" and lasting comfort. When not quilting, Jan showed her love by baking for her family. You could always count on discovering delicious baked goods in her kitchen or freezer. Jan is survived by her children, Mark (Melissa) Seivert of Granger, Krista (Shaun) Magill of Polk City, Kari Seivert of Ankeny and Kimberly (Corey) Proctor of Ryan, Iowa; her grandchildren (all of whom were her "favorites"), Marty and Katie Seivert, Josh, Nate and Sara Magill, Ryan Seivert and Logan, Seth and Gavin Proctor; her siblings, Lois (Bernie) Poore of Johnston, Sharon (John) McPherson of Des Moines and David Schulte of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Kenneth Schulte, Dick Schulte and JoAnn Vaughan. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, December 14 at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church.
