Mildred "Millie" Rood passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, January 14, 2017 just a few weeks shy of her 97th birthday. She and her husband, the late George Rood, raised their five children in Des Moines, where she was born. Of her many accomplishments those of which she was most proud were her years as Senior Deaconess at Plymouth Church and her superior abilities at the bridge table. She is survived by her children Mary Ann Rood (Ron Eash), Susan Rood, Martha Brundage (Wayne), Patti Lind (Rob) and George Rood, Jr. (Debbie) as well as eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild expected momentarily. Services will be held at Dunn's Funeral Home, 2121 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, on Wednesday, January 18. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the AGL Memorial Youth Hunt, Animal Rescue League of Iowa or the charity of your choice.
