Bernard "Bernie" Head Obituary

HEAD – Bernard Head, formerly of Preeceville passed away on July 7, 2020 in Melville at the age of 56 years.

Bernard Allen Head was born August 30, 1963 to Robert and Linda Head. He attended Preeceville School then worked at MacKenzie Training Centre hooking rugs and shredding paper. He moved to various places then settled in Melville in 2011. He worked at Rail City Industries until his passing.

Bernie enjoyed fishing, camping, rodeos, and the farm. He spent a lot of time at his grandparent’s farm as he liked animals. He was very devoted to his Grandma Head as she took good care of him. He liked to go camping with a staff member and her husband at Lady Lake. He would wake up at 5 am and imitate the crows and they would tell him to go back to sleep. They would bring him to Aunty Phyllis’s for lunch or supper and go to the rodeo.  They also brought him for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. When people gave him flowers, he liked to smell them until there was no scent left, then he would spray them with aftershave and was mad when they wilted.

He had a thing about new shoes and wanted a pair once a week. Bob would clean up his old ones and put them in a box but he couldn’t fool him. When Bob took him fishing Bernie would throw the rod and reel in when he had enough. Bob would also take him out to the farm, he wanted to sit on his “B Major my Tractor”, he spent hours on it. He liked music and would play it so the whole town could hear.

Bernie is predeceased by his parents Robert and Linda, Uncle Floyd. He is survived by his Uncle Jim (Loraine), Gordon (Elaine) Chancey, Robert and Thomas Brown. His Auntie Phyllis Gowan, Stanyce Head, and Susan Hiron and numerous cousins and friends.

The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from Trinity United Church in Preeceville, SK with Reverend Miles Russell officiating. The urnbearer was Joe Gowan and
Bernie’s Friends and Family served as the honourary bearers. The interment took place in the

Preeceville Community Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Bernie may be made to the
