Elizabeth Bueckert Obituary

On Thursday, September 29, 2016, Elizabeth Bueckert was called home by her Saviour whom she loved.  She reached the age of 84 years 3 months 9 days.
Elizabeth was born June 20, 1932 in Schonwiese, Mexico.  At the age of 3 her parents moved to Canada in the Rosenort area where she received her education.  At the age of 16 her parents moved back to Mexico.
June 1, 1952, she was baptized upon the confession of her faith in the Sommerfeld Church at Santa Clara, Mexico by Bishop Abram Friesen.
November 9, 1952, she was married to Peter Bueckert.  A month later they moved to Canada and settled in the Carman area.  From there they moved to Winnipeg and later to Gladstone and MacGregor areas.
January 17, 2009, Mom had a stroke from which she never fully recovered.  She was in and out of the hospital a number of times over the next seven and a half years.
August 3, 2016, she was taken to the Portage Hospital.  She was there for two weeks and then transferred to MacGregor Health Centre.
September 18, 2016, she became ill and was admitted to Portage Hospital.  She continued to weaken and spent the last seven days mostly sleeping.  Her last gift to her family was when she woke up at times and told each one of her family she loved them.
She is survived by her husband Peter of 64 years less 41 days, five daughters and one son, Martha and (Henry Dyck) of MacGregor, Irene Reimer of MacGregor, David and (Susan Bueckert) of Austin, Linda and (Bill Dyck) of MacGregor, Shirley and (Bill Guenther) of Gladstone, Beverley Ann and (James Dow) of Calgary; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother Bill Fehr and his wife Anne; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Isaac and Agatha (Thiessen) Fehr; son-in-law Phil Reimer; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Isaac and Isaac; one sister Mary; one brother-in-law Joe MacDonald; one sister-in-law Hilda Fehr.
A Bible verse that was very special to her was Psalm 91:4-5; “He shall cover thee with His feathers and under His wings shalt thou trust.  His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night nor for the arrow that flyeth by day.”
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all those who visited Mom in the last years, at home, in the care home and in the hospital.  We have seen her eyes light up when visitors came. Also, a big thank you to all those who brought food, to those who came to sing and most importantly to those who lifted us up in prayer. The family would also like to send a heartfelt thank you to the home care providers, the staff at Portage Hospital and the staff at MacGregor Health Centre for wonderful care given to our wife and Mom.
