Mr. Acree Harris, Jr., age 63 of Brodhead died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the Rockcastle Hospital. He was born in Kingsport, TN on January 13, 1945 the son of Acree and Polly Turner Harris, Sr. He was a retired coal miner, was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of Kentucky, a member of the Nolen Masonic Lodge 806 of Pine Mountain, KY and was a member of the United Brethren in Christ Church in Bledsoe, KY. Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Christine Turner Harris; two sons: Acree and Shonda Dee Harris III of Mt. Vernon, and J. D. Harris of Brodhead; two daughters: Debbie Lynn Whitney of Indianapolis, IN and Kim Harris of Brodhead; one brother: David Harris of Beechfork, KY and two sisters: Margaret Smith of Wallins Creek, KY and Ruth Ellen Rich of Tennessee. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Acree Harris IV, Kiana Shace Harris, Harley Whitney and Shelby Whitney. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by one brother: James Earl Harris and one sister: Betty Smith.
