Kathleen Joan Welsh Obituary

Kathleen Joan Welsh, 69, passed away at her home in Port Orford on June 24, 2020. Kathy was born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Eugene and Irene Pavoggi. Later she moved to Reno, Nevada, Plano, Texas,; and then to Port Orford, Oregon. Kathy leaves behind her loving husband, John Welsh, and her children, Carly Corella, Tina Stokes, Lisa Plumlee, Rachael Vila and Derrick Welsh. She is survived by her seven siblings and 11 grandchildren. Kathy lived a life filled with love and family. With her husband, John, by her side they traveled, made meals together, hosted parties for their friends, took long walks and listened to 60s music. Her daughters were her best friends and she was their strength. Kathy created a life of unforgettable memories with her children. She loved her grandchildren, painted rocks with them, had cake decorating contests and visited them often. Nothing was ordinary to Kathy. When she saw a rock or a piece of driftwood it was always more. She transformed everything into a piece of art, a mermaid, a flower, the sun or a face. She filled sketch pads with her doodles. Kathy loved flowers, plants and trees. She kept scrapbooks of beautiful things. She loved to sing and make up songs. No one was ordinary to her. She could find goodness, brilliance, talent or beauty in each individual she crossed paths with. She had a gift for remembering people. Her grandchildren, family and her friends were always awaiting the beautiful handwritten cards and drawings she would frequently send them. If you mentioned an interest she was sure to send you an article, or an idea, or a gift to validate that interest. If you took time to share your life with her she really listened. In the last years of her life Kathy practiced Tai Chi, was involved in the Red Hatters, baked cookies for church events, and enjoyed walking on the beach collecting agates. Kathy followed the Catholic faith her entire life. She was a true Christian. She followed her Savior’s example, exemplifying the gifts of charity and kindness. She attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Port Orford. In her last year, she battled Parkinson disease and a brain injury. Kathy passed with family around her. The family thanks all those who helped Kathy in her battle and helped make her life so beautiful. Kathy was cremated, no public services will be held
