CAPE ELIZABETH Russell V. Bradley, of Cape Elizabeth, died Friday, December 11, 2015 at Maine Veterans Home, Scarborough. Born on November 13, 1923 in Ticonderonga, NY, Russell was the son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Dion) Bradley. Moving to Maine in his younger years, Russell graduated from University of Maine at Orono in 1947. He married Henrietta W. Garran on October 1, 1949. Russell honorably served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He worked for Emery Waterhouse Company as the managing director of store programs and advertising for 35 years. Following retirement, he worked for many different car dealerships transporting vehicles. He was a lector and communicant of St. Bartholomews Church in Cape Elizabeth. Russell loved music. He played trumpet in is high school band, college band, the Bangor Symphony, along with his own 6 piece band. He was a very social person who was always whistling and loved people. Russell was known as an active runner, a hobby he picked up when he was 42 years old. In his later years, he was inducted into the 65+ Runners Hall of Fame. In addition to running, he stayed active with hiking and fishing, especially ice fishing. He was a Philatelist and an ardent Celtics and Patriots Fan. He was also a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, having climbed 47 mountains and over 4000 feet in New Hampshire. Above all else, he loved spending time with all of his little chickens. He was devoted to his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Southern Maine, VA Homebound Care Staff, Gentiva, the wonderful and caring staff of the Maine Veterans Home, and a very special caregiver Diane Rolfe. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Robert E. Bradley and a brother, Robert Bradley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Henrietta Bradley; daughters, Judith A. Commeau and husband Thomas of Middletown, NY, and Lynn M. Brown and husband Frederick of Westbrook. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chelsea, Katelyn, Joshua, Bradley, Chad; great-grandchildren, Harmony and Kylie. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17 from 4-7PM at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited atthe Funeral Home at 10:15AM onFriday, Dec. 18 followed by an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomews Church, 8 Two Lights Rd., Cape Elizabeth.
