Irene Fern Perkins, who lived to be 103 years young, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016. She was born on 12-12-1912 in Linnton, Oregon to Wlliam and Elizabeth Abbott, grew up with one younger sister, Gladys Shelton. Residing in Portland, she attended Commerce High School, taking several business courses. She was employed by Peerless Trailer for 29 years, becoming their controller and corporate secretary. Irene was married to Carl W. Perkins for 52 years until he passed away in 1985. They enjoyed their family, friends, and traveling. She also enjoyed trips to Hawaii, dancing, gardening and chocolate was among her favorite things. She was hard-working and diligent and will be remembered for her quick smile, inquisitive personality, and spunky attitude. She is survived by her two sons, Carl Perkins Jr. and Curtis Perkins, two nieces, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a growing list of great-great grandchildren.
