Richard Lewis Milward Obituary

On Tuesday, the 7th of July 2020, doing what he loved Rick passed away at the St. Brieux golf course in St. Brieux, Saskatchewan at the age of 71. He is loved and will be missed by his wife Darlene of 12 years and five children: Nicole, Janette (Aaric), Nolan (Caitlyn), Collin and Darren. Ricks grandchildren: Kélen, Sarah, Lucas, Jordan, Noah, Scarlett, Bianca and Elliot. Predeceased by his wife Coral, mother Louella, grandmother Gladys and childhood best friend, Johnny Forest. Rick was born May 9, 1949 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Growing up on the west coast is where Rick made many friends, including his best friend, Bob Enwright of 55 years. Bowen Island became the gathering place for camaraderie where they all remained in touch until his passing. Rick married his wife Coral in 1975 and they moved to Prince George where they created many memories with their five children during their 24 years of marriage. Rick enjoyed sports and played baseball in the Tabor Arms Pub league of PG. In 2008 Rick married Darlene and together they lived in Edmonton, Saskatoon and Gibson where they enjoyed the RV Lifestyle by a golf course, ocean fishing, and outdoor recreational sports. Rick pursued a career as a journeyman pipefitter after graduation. He took great pride as a pipefitter and opened Kodiak Fire Protection in Prince George with his business partner Medwin. Rick also excelled as an apprenticeship councillor to mentor those into the trades. Upon retirement Rick was a proud member and brother of Local Union 488 of 20 years. Rick retired in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2016. During retirement, Rick enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, travelling and walking his dogs Yoda & Wilson. Rick was easily loved and befriended many with his gift of conversation and his sense of humor. A road trip was always an adventure. With a lead foot and no fear of the elements, he ensured arrival at any destination. He left a lasting impression on all that he met. The family would like to thank and extend our gratitude to the management and staff at the St. Brieux Park, clubhouse and first responders who cared for Rick in his final moments. Memorial donations may be made in Rick’s name directly to: Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
