William Ronald “Ronnie” Rains, Middlesboro, KY passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at UT Hospital. He was born on April 12, 1945 in Bell County, KY, the son of the late Esther and Eugene Rains. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Brooks. He resided in Middlesboro, KY all of his life. He attended Middlesboro High School. Ronnie was capable of multiple types of work – insulator, pipe fitter, coal miner, etc. – there were few tasks he could not do. Ronnie married Sharon Price and together they raised two daughters, Rhonda and Amy. Ronnie would do many favors for his family and friends who were numerous. He is survived by his brother, Doug Rains; his sister, Judy Byrd and daughter, Amy Rains; three grandchildren: Tanner, Bryce and Maddie who call him Poppy. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Jones officiating. Graveside service will follow at Mountainview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
