Bessie Deane Haynes Obituary

Bessie Deane Haynes, 97, widow to Conrad Haynes, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at home in Georgetown. She is survived by her two sons, H.C. (Sharon) of Georgetown and John (Erica) of Groton, MA; a granddaughter, Elizabeth; a sister, Catherine May, a niece, Marilyn and a nephew, Randy, all of Kansas. In addition to her family, she leaves a loving group of ladies who have cared for her for many years; Lisa, Monica, Shelly, Peggy Sue, Dora, Crystal and the late Libby Murphy. Bessie was born and raised in Owensboro. She met her future husband, Conrad (deceased) at Western Kentucky University where they graduated. They married in 1940 and moved to Scott County in 1946. Bessie taught Home Economics in the Scott County school system and was an advisor of the Future Homemakers of America for many years until her retirement. She was an active and founding member of the Kentucky Upsilon Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority in Georgetown, an educational and charitable organization of women educators. Bessie was a long-term member of the Oxford Christian Church. Her life-long interests included reading, sewing, cooking and volunteer work with her church. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 18, 2016 at Georgetown Cemetery with a public memorial service to be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bluegrass Hospice, Oxford Christian Church or a charity of one's choice. All are welcomed to a memorial gathering at the Life Center of the Oxford Christian Church on Saturday, June 18 at 11:30 am. Funeral: Graveside Service 11 am, April 18, 2018 Interment: Georgetown Cemetery
