Garry Ray Lindsey Obituary

GARRY RAY LINDSEY The life of Garry Lindsey. He was 66 years young, born in Chicago, IL,, grew up in Danville, AL and attended Speake High School. He spent years working construction as a pipefitter and welder though out the U.S. He met Lana LeJeune Lindsey 42 years ago, while working in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and they were married in 1979. He moved to Florida in 1982 and never wanted to live anywhere else. He is preceded in death by his father, Orville Ray Lindsey and his youngest brother Tony Dean Lindsey. He is survived by his wife, Lana LeJeune Lindsey, His Mom, Margie Hale Lindsey, His brothers Jerry Wayne Lindsey and James Derrick Lindsey, His stepdaughter Michelle Melancon Sanchez, and his 2 granddaughters that were the light of his life - Kristen Renee Melancon and Addison Grace Sanchez. Garry loved nature and his private world in retirement on 15 acres in the country, after years of dealing with the public as owner operator of Lindsey Landing Marina. He fed everything that stepped on his property and knew every deer or turkey or cats and kittens that came around. He wasn’t much of a hunter, since he preferred feeding the animals instead of having them for food. His gruff exterior covered up the soft inside he never wanted the world to see. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He loved being on the water, on the rivers and bays, and knew every crook and turn and honey hole to get a “mess of fish” when he wanted some. He also was an amazing cook, and loved to serve his creations to friends and family. While operating the marina, he held an annual Pig Roast and fed the local community and would have a live band come down and perform for everyone, every year. He was saved and gave his life to the Lord in July of 2006.
