Maple Lee Couser Obituary

Maple Lee Couser, 70, was born on December 13, 1949 in Dermott, Arkansas to Alguster Giles-Sykes and Arthur Lee Giles. 

 

She received her formal education from the public-school district in Dermott, Arkansas.

 

She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age.  She was baptized by Reverend Plummer at the age of 12.  She later moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1971.

 

She retired from Wilcox Electric after working many years.  She was presently attending Skylight Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  She served on the Usher Board, as Sunday School Secretary, on the Culinary Committee and she read the announcements.

 

Maple loved bowling, fishing, cooking and baking.  We will miss her Whipping Cake and her 7-Up Cake.

 

She departed this life on July 2, 2020 at 9:43 a.m.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Alguster Sykes, her father, Arthur Lee Giles, four brothers, Eddie Nelson, Terry Giles, Sr., Joe Giles and Kenny Giles and a sister, Ruthie Nelson Delaney.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Sharon Carolina; five sisters, Earnestine Gordon, Betty Woodson, Beatrice (Lewis) Taylor, Georgia Thomas, Shellie (Sabdin) Anderson; two brothers, Arcell Nelson and Donnie Giles; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 11th at Skylight Baptist Church. Visitation 9:00 A.M. Interment Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery.
