Inez Miriam Grooms, 80, widow of Allen Grooms, Sr., died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey. Born August 11, 1939, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Brown C. Carter and the late Zonie Viola Mitchum Carter. Survivors include four children, Ramona Thomas (Max) of FL, and Allen Grooms, Jr. (Patricia), Charlie Grooms, and Geneva Pate (Bruce) all of Sumter; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Callen; two brothers, Leroy Carter and Ernest Carter; and a sister, Delma Templin. A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in the Salem Cemetery of Darlington County in Timmonsville with the Rev. James McElveen officiating. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
