Kellan Thomas Reynolds Obituary

A Midlothian native, Kellan Thomas Reynolds passed peacefully at home surrounded by love on the evening of July 2, 2020, at nine years of age after a valiant fight with mitochondrial disease. He is survived by his devoted mother, Donna Reynolds, and grandfather, Tom ‘Poppy’ Reynolds. He is also survived by his great grandfathers Ralph Middlebrook and Jack Reynolds; great aunts Ruth Anne (Rhett) Walker and Jackie Reynolds; great uncle Ron (Margaret) Reynolds; cherished cousins Sean Hadorn; Emily and Kathryn Reynolds; and Laura and Jack (Sunday, Jaxon) Brownson; and Stephanie Stanley, Kimmie and Jonathan Waldrop, and many other dear family friends. He was preceded by his grandmothers Ruby Middlebrook and Jean Reynolds, and great aunt Helen Reynolds. The family is grateful to palliative care nurse Mary Pogue for her careful attention to his needs. Kellan’s family gratefully treasures every single moment spent with him. Kellan will be remembered for the way he embraced joy at every opportunity. An old soul, his personality was distinct and creative and he always responded to life in ways that enriched the lives of all who knew him. Kellan loved nature, especially watching squirrels and birds. He enjoyed his daily rides in the car. He also loved Mr. Potato Head, his iPad (‘game’), and all kinds of music. Kellan loved purely and beautifully, and the family is comforted that his love lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to receive it. Relatives and friends are invited to the celebration of his life that will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Attendees are encouraged to wear either green for mitochondrial disease awareness or purple for epilepsy awareness. Online condolences may be made at www.blileys.com. All expressions of support and care have been, are, and will remain greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Noah’s Children – a bright spot of excellent care coordination, support, and love to whom the family owes a tremendous debt of gratitude (www.noahschildren.org). Sincere thanks are also extended to the staff of the family’s home church, HRBC.
