Archie Cruse Jr. Obituary

Archie R. Cruse Jr., 56, of Louisville, passed away at 3:40 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at his home.

Junior was born on May 18, 1964 in Clay County, the son of the late Archie and Doris (Harrington) Cruse Sr. He married Janet O’Dell on July 11, 2002 in Louisville and she survives.

Mr. Cruse worked in road maintenance with the City of Louisville for several years. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, visiting with his nieces, nephews and family. At an early age, he found something profound in the church hymn “Power in the Blood” and could often be heard singing this as he went about his day. Junior was very close with his father-in-law, Cotton O’Dell and together had a “father and son” type of bond.

In addition to his wife of nearly 18 years; Janet, he is survived by a daughter; Wendy O’Dell of Louisville, a brother; Gary (Glenda) Cruse of Rinard, four sisters; Peggy (Larry) Landreth of Flora, Barbara Shires of Xenia, Joann (Jim) Bowen of Louisville and Linda (Allen) Bowen of Louisville and by several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Junior was preceded in death by a brother; Bill Cruse and by his father-in-law, Cotton O’Dell.

A prayer service honoring the life of Junior will be conducted at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville. Jeff Hembree will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until the time of the prayer service. Memorials in Junior’s memory are suggested to the family.
