Shawn M. Bakowski

Springfield- It is with great sadness that the family of Shawn Bakowski, 48, announces his passing on July 2, 2020. Shawn was born in Hartford, CT on November 26, 1971 to Mary Jane (Cooky) and Raymond Bakowski. Shawn lived most of his life in Springfield and attended Central High School. He later graduated from HCC where he received his nursing degree. He was an extremely gifted and empathetic nurse who was employed as a paraprofessional with CREC. Shawn was a free spirit who loved nature, music and film. He was a talented videographer having worked in local television and film. He was a dynamite cook. His biggest joy, however, was being able to coach both of his sons in soccer. He never missed a high school soccer game of Jacob’s. Recently, he had the joy of refereeing alongside Jacob for Chicopee Parks and Rec. Shawn will be sadly missed by his mother, Cooky Bakowski of Springfield, his father Raymond Bakowski and his wife Judy of Arizona, his sons Andrew and Jacob Bakowski with their mother Lisa of Springfield, and his sister Stacy Arnold and her husband Demond and their children Dallas and Daniel of Springfield. Shawn was predeceased by his grandparents John and Frances Phelps and Henry Bakowski and Elanor Arnett. Shawn also leaves a plethora of friends and students both current and former that looked up to him and learned so much from him.
