Thomas J. "Snoopy" Snopkowski Hinsdale, NY Thomas J. "Snoopy" Snopkowski, 75, of 3255 Jollytown Rd., went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday (July 2, 2020), surrounded in the loving comfort of his wife and family. Born February 24, 1945 in Olean, he was the son of Bennie M. and Catherine McQuillen Snopkowski. Tom was formerly married to Lucinda Strang, with whom he raised 3 children. On February 17, 1990 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olean he married Margaret "Peggy" Phillips Crawforth who survives. Tom was member of the Olean High School class of 1964. He enlisted in the US Army where he served from 1963 to 1966 and was stationed in Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. As a teenager he worked at the Castle Restaurant as a dishwasher and prep cook under the tutelage of Chef Anthony Lentola. He began full time work at Clark Bros., and also worked for a short period of time for Nabisco Co. and Alcas Corp. He then began a 20-year career with the City of Olean Fire Department where he was a firefighter and EMT. After retirement, he worked 8 years as a security guard for St. Bonaventure University. Tom was a life member of the St. Stephen's Club where he served as treasurer for 2 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He most enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, whether it was doing target practice with Bennie, playing Bingo with Tina, enjoying visits with Brenda and family, or working on vehicles with Stephen. Surviving besides his wife are 2 daughters Brenda (Stephen) Prins of Pine City and Christina Person of Olean; 1 son Bennie Snopkowski of Olean; 1 stepson Stephen Crawforth of Olean; 10 grandchildren, Kyle (Anisha) Prins, Katie Prins, Khristopher Person, Ian Snopkowski, Brooke Snopkowski, Gregory Crawforth, Jr., Stephen Lewis, Anthony Proctor, Richard Brisky and Courtney Brisky; several great grandchildren; 1 sister Ruth Ann Snopkowski of Olean; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kellee and John Moroge of North Collins; many nieces and nephews, including Kathleen Wainwright and Susan O'Connell and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and a stepson Gregory Crawforth, in 1991. Friends will be received on Wednesday (July 8, 2020) from 11am until 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A service will immediately follow at 1pm in the funeral home. John Moroge, brother-in-law to Tom, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, with full military services being accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team.
