Maxine Carter

Maxine Carter passed away December 19, 2011 at Oakwood Country Place in McMinnville at the age of 90. Funeral services will bed held on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 1 PM at the Chapel of Macy & Son with interment at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, McMinnville. Viewing will be on Wednesday, December 20 from 4-7 PM at the Chapel. Maxine was born April 27, 1921 in Devils Slide, UT to Virgil and Elizabeth Ellen Bunot Steed. She was raised in Devils Slide until the age of 10 when she moved to Stone, ID. She attended schools in Stone, ID and some high school in Ogden, UT. In 1938 she married Derrell James in Malad, ID. In 1940 they moved to McMinnville. Maxine enjoyed gardening, flowers and crocheting as well as reading. The family said "She was a very unselfish woman always doing for family and others." Surviving are daughters, Dale Uglesich, Aloha, OR; Tyra Whitney and Nelda Martin, both of McMinnville; Doris Stacey, Aumsville, OR; and Linda Clark, Vancouver, WA; a sister, Ruby Rose, McMinnville and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Derrell in 1997; by sons Steve and Thomas; and by two daughters, Janet and Karon.
